Once upon a time, just a couple of years ago, an insightful four-year-old girl said something to me that will stick with me forever and ever. As she looked into my eyes, leaned back in her lawn chair, and rested her little toes on the deck rail, she said: “Momma, you are teaching me how to be.”
Oh baby girl. These words will guide me every day, every moment of my life.
As I am living this adventure and figuring out my own way in life, I can only hope that I am teaching you some of what I am still learning: to enjoy the greatness of life; to make this life what you envision; to live with passion; to love fiercely and to give back to others; to be an explorer, an adventurer; to think and dream big and never give up; and to love yourself and to teach others to love themselves too.
Most of all, I hope that I am teaching you that you are so dearly, deeply, and unconditionally loved, and that you are unbelievably amazing.
We teach what we learn. We pass on what we live. We are never too young to teach and we are never to old to learn.
For you see, while I am teaching you how to be, my girl, you are also teaching me.
